Is this the official College Football Playoff?
No. These are real teams and recorded results in our imagined league. The conference alignment and 24-team postseason are a fantasy concept. Pairings show who would qualify if the season ended today.
How do teams qualify?
The top two teams in each CFL conference qualify. CFL conference record counts only completed games against members of our reimagined conference. When all ten teams have played at least three such games, with no more than one game’s difference between their totals, selection uses CFL conference winning percentage, then head-to-head results, common-opponent record, and overall winning percentage. Otherwise, it uses overall winning percentage, then head-to-head and common-opponent record. Remaining ties stay unresolved. A 0–0 conference record is not treated as a winning percentage. Each matchup labels its current selection basis.
How do seeding and later rounds work?
Our proprietary Power Ratings seed qualifying teams within East and West; they do not choose conference finalists. Twelve conference championship games make up Round 1. Conference winners are ranked after championship weekend, with no winners projected. East seeds E1 and E2 and West seeds W1 and W2 receive quarterfinal byes; E3–E6 and W3–W6 play Round 2. East and West winners meet for the national title.
Where do the records and ratings come from?
Completed results are verified across all 120 schedules. FBS records are cross-checked against ESPN standings; Idaho’s record comes from its own schedule. Each record links to its source under “Standings & tiebreakers.” A failed refresh retains the last fully verified snapshot and its timestamp. No future results are simulated.
Site data is compiled from public and private sources. Updates every Tuesday and Saturday between 9–10 a.m. Eastern. Check the latest snapshot below.
Why reimagine the league?
Community, tradition, and legacy: keep campuses, hometowns, and fans at the heart of the game; restore regional rivalries; and carry college football’s stories into its next chapter.
The CFP is expected to expand to 24 teams in 2027, pending final approval, but subjective rankings and controversial selections remain concerns. Our format helps restore the soul of the sport and refocuses attention where it belongs—on the biggest matchups that matter the most.
